Cover Photo Contest

The City of Visalia is excited to partner with a local photographer to display their work on the cover of our Fall 2024 Live & Play Guide.

Contest

Winning photos will be published on the front cover of the digital and print versions of the Fall 2024 Live & Play Guide.

Entrants

Open to photographers of any age who are Visalia residents.

Entries

Photos must be original images taken by the entrant and may not have been previously commercially published.

Content

 We are seeking captivating photos of Visalia or local Visalians in the Fall to be featured on the cover of the Fall 2024 Live & Play Guide. The images should highlight local people and places in Visalia, capturing the essence of our vibrant community. As our guide is family-centric, showcasing fun programs and events for everyone, the front cover must reflect this spirit of inclusiveness and enjoyment. We aim to resonate with our readers by portraying scenes that evoke a sense of belonging and excitement about the seasonal activities and offerings in our town. Please submit photos that embody the warmth and togetherness of Visalia's fall festivities.

Orientation and Editing

All photos submitted must have a *vertical (portrait)* orientation. Submissions with a horizontal orientation will not be considered. Images may have minor alterations for color, contrast, etc. but may not be significantly altered, developed by AI, appear unnatural, or have important elements added or removed.

Images for Judging

Digital PNG format images with at least a width and height of about 818 x 1059 pixels are preferred.

Must have Higher Resolution Images Suitable for Print Available

The winning photographers will be asked after the contest to provide TIFF format or high-quality JPEG format digital images with a native width and height of at least 828 x 1068 pixels. Images that do not meet these criteria will not be used for the cover.

Deadline

Entries must be received by July 7, 2024.

Judging

A community vote with take place on Monday, July 8 through Wednesday, July 10 for the top 3. The winner will be announced via social media on Friday, July 12.

Winners

A brief description of the winning photo and photographer will be published in the Live & Play Guide. The winners will be invited to attend a City Council meeting where they will be recognized with the release of the Fall 2024 Live & Play Guide.

Other Uses

All entries will become part of the permanent collection of the Live & Play Archives. Entries cannot be returned. Photos submitted to the Cover Photo Contest but not selected for the cover may be chosen for use elsewhere in the Live & Play Guide with full credit given to the photographer.
