The honoree must be a local individual, business or ogranization. A Proclamation is a ceremonial document issued by the City Council to commemorate a specific time period (day, week, or month) for the purpose of raising awareness about local efforts. A resolution is a ceremonial document that generally commends a local person, business or organization for service to the community for a particular accomplishment. A Certificate of Recognition is provided to a local individual, business or organization to recognize outstanding achievements. No person should serve on more than one committee or commission at one time as a regular member or as an alternate. However, individuals with unique qualifications may be asked to serve on an additional committee/commission by the City Council. Generally, the applicant must be 18 years of age or older and live or work within the urban area of Visalia as defined by the VUSD boundary map. The policy was adopted by Visalia City Council to recognize local individuals and organizations that have distinguished themselves and brought pride to the community. Requests must be submitted 30 days in advance of the presentation. For additional information review the Ceremonial Document Policy prior to submitting your request. The salary range for every City employee classification can be found on the City's Job Description webpage. Benefit information can be found by reviewing the detailed Memoranda of Understanding (MOU's) for each bargaining unit. All cost of living and benefits adjustments must be approved by Council in a regular City Council meeting. The Visalia City Council meets on the first and third Monday of each month, at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 707 E. Acequia Ave. Other meetings or study sessions are held as needed.
