Road Work Begins April 7 on Shirk Street

Monday April 7th Phase 1 construction begins on Shirk Street. This work is part of the City of Visalia’s Shirk Capacity Enhancement Project.

Phase 1 includes construction work from Doe Avenue to Riggin Avenue, with Shirk Street closed from Ferguson Avenue to Riggin Avenue. Phase 1 is scheduled to be completed on Friday May 9th.

Detours will be posted at Goshen Avenue and Riggin Avenue, travelers are asked to proceed cautiously and slow for the cone zone. Those who live, work, or are visiting businesses on Shirk Street will be able to access the area.

Phase 1 of the Shirk Capacity Enhancement Project includes the roadway widening of Shirk Street, installation of a 48” mainline sanitary sewer line, concrete improvements, signalization and street lighting, and striping.

The City of Visalia is working with engineering firm VRPA Technologies, Inc. and construction management team NV5 on the project.
