VPD Holding Checkpoint on 2/21

2.20.2025
The Visalia Police Department will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, February 21, 2025.
"DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving related crashes," provides Liz Jones, Public Safety Police & Fire Public Information Officer. "The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road."
The department also reminds drivers that impairment can come from more than just alcohol. Certain prescription and over-the-counter medications can affect your ability to drive. Additionally, while medical and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana remains illegal.
A first-time DUI offense can result in fines and penalties averaging $13,500, as well as a suspended driver’s license.
This checkpoint is made possible by a grant from the California Highway Patrol.
