Visalia City Council Names New Mayor and Vice Mayor

The Visalia City Council has named a new mayor and vice mayor.
On Wednesday, 12/11, a Special Meeting of the Visalia City Council was held. Mayor Brian Poochigian opened the meeting and the City Council adopted Resolutions 2024-64 and 2024-65, declaring the results of the General Municipal Election, held November 5, 2024, for the Visalia City Council Districts 1 and 2, and accepting the certified official results of the passage of Measure O.
Chief Deputy City Clerk Jennifer Gomez then joined newly elected Council Members Brett Taylor and Liz Wynn to the floor of the chambers, where the Oath of Office was administered for their new terms.
Councilmember Wynn introduced her family in attendance and thanked them for their support, followed by Vice Mayor Taylor.
"Thank you so much for this opportunity to be able to serve Visalia for an additional four years," shared Taylor. "Visalia is a beautiful community and it really is an honor to be able to serve in this capacity."
Vice Mayor Taylor introduced his family that was in attendance, and the Council moved to their reorganization, lead by Mayor Poochigian.
"It's been great to serve as your mayor for the past two years, it's been one of the honors of my life. I've really enjoyed it," shared Poochigian. "Thank you to the Council for entrusting me with this duty. It was an honor to serve the City of Visalia."
Poochigian added, "I'd like to recognize our staff, because they're the boots on the ground, they're the ones that do a lot of work for the City of Visalia."
Mayor Poochigian asked the City staff in attendance to stand, and he lead the meeting in a round of applause.
The City Council then conducted their reorganization, appointing Vice Mayor Brett Taylor to the office of Mayor and Council Member Liz Wynn to the office of Vice Mayor by unanimous vote.
