Pipeline Work Brings Temporary Street Closure to Northwest Visalia
11.13.2024
Travelers headed down Shirk Street, and through the Riggin Avenue intersection, will begin to see site improvements as crews install a sanitary sewer pipeline and a storm drain pipeline. Shirk Street north of Riggin Avenue is now closed for approximately half a mile as the pipeline and road construction is underway.
Shirk Street, north of Riggin Avenue, will remain closed through the end of November. Work on Shirk Street will continue Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately 30 days, while construction on Riggin Avenue will be limited to shoulder work, with impacts to traffic confined to the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Located in Visalia’s growing Industrial Park, the work includes the installation of a sanitary sewer pipeline, and a storm drain pipeline for future connections. These connections will ultimately provide infrastructure improvements for upcoming construction in the area.
While the work is in progress, motorists will be detoured to Ave 320 (Kibler Avenue) via Plaza Drive. Outside workday hours, and on the weekends, no travel restrictions will be in place for Riggin Avenue; Shirk Street will remain closed for the duration of the project. Access for businesses and emergency services will remain intact for the entire duration of the work.
Motorists are asked to use caution when driving near the construction area and to remember to always slow for the cone zone.
