ILLEGAL FIREWORKS

Any firework that flies in the air, darts across the ground or explodes is considered illegal in California. If it doesn't have the California State Fire Marshal seal on the packaging, it's illegal. The Fire Department utilizes fire investigators to enforce fireworks laws. Discharge and possession of illegal fireworks carries fines starting at $2,000.00 for the first offense, and increases with each additional offense. The discharge of illegal fireworks is dangerous and can cause injury or death. Additionally, illegal fireworks cause millions of dollars in lost property and damage each year.
