The City recently adopted the Short-Term Rental Ordinance which requires all short-term rental operators within City limits to obtain a Short-Term Rental Permit and comply with the operating standards detailed in Visalia Municipal Code Section 17.32.166(B)(1) through (20).
What is a Short-Term Rental?
A short-term rental is a dwelling unit, or any portion thereof, utilized for residing, lodging, sleeping, or other occupancy purposes for less than thirty (30) days.
How do permits work?
All permits will originate through the City's Business Tax office, similar to Home Occupation permits, and require the application of a Business Tax Certificate.

Application Process
Please complete the Short-Term Rental Application.
Application* MUST be submitted to the City of Visalia Business Tax office located at:
City Hall West: 707 W. Acequia Ave
Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
*please note, one application per parcel. If applying for multiple parcels, you must complete an application for each parcel.
