Traffic Engineering

The City of Visalia’s Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for traffic related issues and design of transportation engineering projects. Typical projects include; traffic counts, traffic signal design, traffic signal timing, traffic control requests, sight distance problems, street lighting, work zone traffic control, street closures, and speed zones. This division also serves as a liaison between the City and various committees, citizen groups, individuals, private organizations, other state and federal agencies as well as the Visalia Police Department for the enforcement of traffic regulations on City streets. Traffic Engineering applies the principles of access management in reviewing site and subdivision plans to provide the safe and efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
