Recycle Trash into Art Contest

In the spirit of Earth Day and to emphasize recycling to protect our environment, we have create a contest honoring the artist in all of us.  This project was initiated originally to culminate on Earth Day the April 22nd as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration.  Now that the event has been postponed until September 19, 2020, the deadline date has been extended.

Spending more time together at home due to the stay-at-home policy adopted by Visalia and Tulare County, this project offers a perfect opportunity for all family members of all ages to work together on a fun project to create individual works of art using discarded items that can be found in the recycle bin.

Gather your junk mail, magazines, plastics, aluminum cans or anything nonperishable from the recycle bin and create a rendering of a favorite animal, weird robot, wacky creation, portrait or modern art.  Check out the many ideas online searching "recycle art".  You might also check "You Tube" for techniques to work with plastics, paper, and aluminum cans.
