Police will join CHP and Sheriff Deputies to aggressively look for all impaired drivers during the crackdown. "We want to remind everyone that it is illegal to drive impaired, and we hope the campaign will remind people that if they plan on drinking, to never get behind teh wheel," said Visalia Police Sergeant Chris McLain. "But if someone does choose to drive impaired, we will arrest them. No warnings. No excuses." DUI checkpoints will be in place Friday, Aug. 24, and Saturday, Sept. 1, in Visalia.

Is it Time to Change to District Elections? When the City's Charter was written nearly 100 years ago, the population was less than 10,000 and it called for at-large City Council elections. A vote by the citizens is required to change the Charter. Citizens will have the opportunity to decide if they wish to change the Charter when a ballot measure goes before voters on November 6. This informational flyer is intended to inform citizens on the differences between at-large and district elections and provide resources to obtain more comprehensive information. For a copy of the flyer in both English and Spanish, click here.
